Just received an attractive offer from Random House/Watson Guptil to publish my book “Crafting a Cartoon”.This is great news as it will make the information more widely accessible, but they are asking that I shut down the ebook. ( Understandably).
So since the hardcover edition of the book won’t be out until July 2010, (and it may be slightly more mainstream and less personal than my ebook) if you feel you will be in need of this information sooner than July 2010, , I would buy the ebook now. Not sure how long I will be able to leave this version up for sale, but once its down, it’s gone for good.
Thank you to all who bought it. It’s received a great reaction so far, with over 500 copies sold!

Mr.Murray
I tried to buy your ebook back in January, but ran into problems. I live in Canada and I cant get your book through paypal.ca So I dont know if I have to wait until 2010, to read it, but if this is the case I will be eargly waiting. On this same note very happy to see you getting exposure for all your hard work.

That’s GREAT news. Hope you’ll sell million copies.
Out of curiosity, will there be new information/changes for the hardcover edition?

If the ebook is shut down, and only hardcover copies will be sold… Will these hardcover copies sent or delivered worldwide to the customers?
Arturo on 14 Mar 2009 at 12:17 pm #
Or are they going to be sold only in bookstores?

I would imagine they would be available from Amazon.

I live in Canada and just bought the book today, through PayPal — so it can be done. I’m glad I did! It contains lots of useful information. But more than that, it has inspired me to renewed interest in some of my projects, as well as suggesting some new approaches. It’s useful stuff, even for projects that aren’t animation.
There were a few things that I would have liked to seen added to the book, but I can understand why they weren’t included: money and budget details, and technological info that can quickly become dated.
My only negative comment is a small one, one that doesn’t reduce the value of the information: the few typos that managed to sneak in.
I got excellent value for my money; thanks, Joe!

How come they want the e-book down? Yet another company petrifird about anything that may ever so slightly hurt sales? I don’t like the common ideals of buisness’s, they’re almost the opposite of what I beleive in. When you metioned “mainsreaming” do you mean that in a good way or a bad way? Don’t let them publish you book if they want to bombard it with slang, it’d make you look unprofessional since most tend to people blame the wrong person for things.

Don’t worry about any loss of integrity with the book going to a large publisher. I wouldn’t agree to that anyway. ( or bombard it with slang).
When I say slightly more mainstream, some of the personal antidotes and history may not be included, with a little more explanation of things an “outsider” may not know.

Good, I’m glad that theres an American out there other than myself thats small on cosumption and that dosen’t care about attention, its silly that plenty of youtube videos say “rate!”, “comment!”, or “subscribe!”. I beleive in letting others choose what to turn their attention to or decide their actions, not in demanding attention like a child.
