It’s funny with all of this talk about blogging and facebook.
I remember I went to a Rocko fan site ( or it could have been Lazlo, I don’t know) and I went to this chat room and said, “Hey, this is Joe Murray.”
And then someone wrote ” Yeah, right”.
I said “No, really it is. How are you guys doing?”
Then someone said something really rude, and told me to stop with the BS and to get the hell out of the room.
So, I’m always hesitant to log and at Rocko or Lazlo sites, and interrupt their conversation.

That’s because usually the showing up and saying you are X person (important to the site), without some evidence supporting your claim; it seen as some joker trying to troll the people there to hell and back.

What’s it feel like to see all these forums, merchandise and low-quality recordings of your work all over the internet? Someone ripped one of my cartoons with an SWF recorder and threw it on youtube and that was kind of weird, I can only imagine what it feels like on a large scale. I guess you can only really view it as flattery.

Boy, can you imagine the look of that guy’s face if he saw this blog post?
I remember reading that a similar thing happened to one of the “South Park” creators years ago.

Dear Joe,
I can’t STAND it when people don’t respect the creator. but, I hate it more when it’s the network that does it. its none of my business, but I here that Nickelodeon editor Will McRobb overedited cartoonists content. did he edit out the seen with the hotel in “Road Rash”?
Thanks,
Best wishes, jestoon

I’m not sure what happened with the Rocko episodes after I left. They were as I wanted them, but then Nickelodeon stripped off my production company card of the back end credits, and did editing of their own.
I have an idea who was responsible, but can’t say for sure.
Joe Murray

Oh jeeze. I can totally see that happening, too
Nobody trusts announcements like that on the ‘ol internet. For a Rocko/Lazlo fansite, Joe Murray popping into their chatroom is just too good of an event to ever believe. Now that I know you have a chance of doing it, though, I WOULD believe it!
I hope those darn kids know their distrust broke Joe Murray’s heart!
