These were done as possible covers for my book “Creating Animated Cartoons with Character” coming out next year. I’m thinking of putting them up for sale, at a more affordable price than the other pieces I put up which may be a little to expensive for their budget. I just don’t like to see them sitting around in my files if someone can be enjoying them. They are pencil sketches, about 8 X 10.
My daughter went to a science camp last week. When they pulled up to the cabins, one of the kids on her bus yelled out “There’s Scoutmaster Lumpus’ cabin!” . My daughter is very low key, and nobody in her class knows I did that show.
I’ve got some Monday morning blues this morning. Maybe I’ll go out for a run.

I really like the one where Rocko is taking a picture of everyone. It’s a very warm moment.

Looking at your personal drawings Joe it just makes pissed that the show never captured your style, the only exception being your work on Trash-o-Madness. Though I know it could have been alot worse like on Bruce Timm’s first Batman Show which pretty much never got his look right.

Ricardo brings up an interesting point. Has your style evolved since Rocko, or has it been the same and the animators didn’t capture it. I would go with the second picture if you pick from those two, its very nice.

It’s always hard for the volume animation process to completely duplicate an artists style. You try and design so that more people can copy it, but it does end up getting a little diluted.
No, I don’t think my style has changed much.

Is it no trouble to make versons 3 & 4 that includes 3 more Croakville characters wich include that son (wich I suggest that Matt Hill should
& My Idea for the croakville characters, The Red Panda duo (wich I suggest that Lee Tockar & Kari Wahlgren should voice)

I’d love to own either of those! If these go up for auction I’ll give my biddin’s a shot.
It’s neat to see Rocko in your own style rather than the ‘diluted’ show style.
Also nice to hear that your daughter is that quiet about your **FAMOUS ANIMATOR!!!!**
status too, probably for the best so you don’t suddenly start having sleepover parties hosted there ten days a week.

Yeah, I’m also a fan of the 2nd choice. I also like that Rocko is the main focus, since he is my favorite charater of yours.
But whatever the cover is, I’m sure it will be great, but I belive that Rocko should be the main and ONLY focus. The reason why is b/c more people will rocognize him, and b/c he is your signature character.
And as for the 1st choice, where would you have put the title? There does not look there is any room. And it looks like Lazlo is the focus, where I think it should be Rocko.
But you appear to be keeping the real cover under wraps, so I cant wait for the reveal.
