Scan of the art off the page of TV guide promoting the RML Christmas Special- 1994

When I saw that the Rocko Christmas Special was to be included in the Season 2 RML DVD collection, it made me want to poop snow with joy.

I remember editing this thing up to a day before it was to air. It has some great characters that were never seen before or after, like the little elf, Fruitcake Man, and do you recall? The most famous elf of all?

That would be MITCH. He had 3 legs.

We actually had a tough time with our parody of the “Rudolph” song. ( you know. The one the dad elf sings where all of the elves are named after hand tools. )You’ll notice how off the actual song Tom Kenny tried to keep to avoid legal issues. Apparently, the people who owned the song only made money at Christmas, so they were very meticulous on copyright infringement. Even parody.

Directed and storyboarded by Doug Lawrence and Robert Scull. Fantastic job.

Ahhhhhhhh,,, the spirit of the holidays.

How did the audio in the episode end up having a perpetual echo?

  2. Joe Murray says:

Wasn’t that way when I delivered it. Who knows what generation is getting viewed these days. I’ll apologize for the quality anyway.

I love this episode, it has become part of my holiday tradition. I watch it every year on Christmas day. And @ Dave, perhaps you saw the dvd version or a recorded version? I have the original VHS version and the sound is just fine.

  7. Gosh, I think I need an elf to make it snow where I live. My city would worship him. haha
Also, happy holidays everyone! Drive safe and PLEASE don’t eat the yellow snow. :P

  8. Mr. Semaj says:

We’ve had little to no snow for Christmas the past several years, which is ironic considering our reputation for wintery weather.

Whenever we’re faced with a snowless Christmas, I think of this episode. :)

  9. Adam says:

Merry Christmas to you Joe, and to everyone reading this blog

Would you consider making Camp Lazlo available on DVD? For some reason Cartoon Network insists on only offering the first season in the Playstation store. Is it on iTunes? I mean, I’d prefer being able to watch it oqn TV, and everytime I tried hooking my iPod up to it, I just got TV snow, I’m pretty sure that doesn’t mean I’ve lost my brain in the snow land behind the TV, right…RIGHT?!

I asked Cartoon Network to offer all seasons on Playstation, seems their response was to air infrequent reruns instead. Oh, and if it’s on Zune, did you know Zune offers absolutely no support for it’s Xbox users, and Xbox offers no support for Zune. I know there are more cartoons avaialable on Zune, but I can’t give my money to a company that can’t even solve something as simple as lag.
